The Civic Seals Museum of La Spezia is housed in the Palazzina delle Arti "Lucio R. Rosaia", a neogothic building which looks onto the ancient via del Prione. It was started in the year 2000 in consequence of the donation of Lilian and Euro Capellini of the most complete sphragistics collection ever put together. The collection, which is the result of 30 years of research and collaborations with the most famous auction houses, has benefited from contacts with the gratest scholars in the sector who have overseen the publicatin of the specific catalogues. The relations with the Secret Vatican archive, the Archive of the Forbidden City of Beijing, the maison Lalique of Paris have allowed selection of the material, thus producing, in the opinion of European, American and Asian experts in sigillography, an exibition which is qualitatively and quantitatively unique of its kind. With its presentatin of seals from the 4th millennium B.C. to the contemporary age, the Museum is a treasure-trove full of agreeable surprises.
